Hotel Sa Muvara offers a little piece of paradise in an ancient land, rich in Mediterranean perfumes. In Sardinian dialect Sa Muvara means moufflon, a type of wild sheep with large curving horns that makes its home in the region’s mountains. The hotel is named in tribute to these magnificent beasts. The hotel’s 50 different rooms and 30 suites are decorated in traditional regional style with elegant examples of local handicraft. This style continues in the rest of the hotel with beautiful chestnut floors throughout and granite tables on the attractive veranda.

Food & Beverage

The hotel’s restaurant offers Italian cuisine, international dishes and traditional local specialities of the region of Barbagia in Sardinia. The excellence of the cuisine on offer has received recognition and awards from many prestigious sources. The menu includes hot and cold mixed mountain starters, chestnut risotto served with ‘cannonau’ (a local Sardinian red wine), potatoes or ricotta and chards ravioli and a wide selection of soups. The restaurant also offers meat dishes and fresh, locally-caught trout from the nearby Flumendosa River cooked in the way enjoyed by the region’s shepherds in a tradition that stretches back over a century. A carefully selected wine list offers a variety of wines chosen to complement the food on offer, with a particular focus on local wines from the Sardinia region. The restaurant features murals created by the best and most famous Sardinian artists.
